Major League Baseball Will Be Investigating Gay Men’s Chorus Complaint Against San Diego Padres

Incident Is Not Over Yet

Officials from Major League Baseball will be investigating a complaint filed by the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus after they were invited to sing the national anthem but a pre-recorded track of a woman’s voice was played instead. About 100 members of the chorus were left dumbstruck as they stood on the Petco Park field and were harassed by fans saying, “You sing like a girl!”

The Padres issued two apologies, the first a mere two sentences long, the second more in-depth. The also state they disciplined the employee in charge of that night’s LGBT event, and fired a contractor in charge of the audio.

A Major League Baseball spokesman, Pat Courtney, told the San Diego Union-Tribune “that baseball’s investigations department will begin to gather information to determine why the chorus was unable to perform as a pre-recorded voice of a previous singer played.”

“It’s difficult to say a timetable,” Courtney said. “It depends how long it is, in terms of where the information takes you. The plan is and the goal is, as expeditiously as possible.”

Meanwhile, Carl DeMaio, a former GOP politician who lost his mayoral race, today claims he has a source who disputes the Padres’  explanation. DeMaio is now a right wing radio host:
