It’s 2016 and Old Navy Is Getting Attacked With Vile Racist Tweets Over This Ad
A Photograph of an Interracial Family Was Enough Fuel to Fire Up Racist Trolls on Twitter
Old Navy, the big-box discount retailer that’s part of the 46-year old $16 billion multi-national apparel chain, posted a tweet with a photo of a beautiful family on Friday, announcing a 30% discount:
Oh, happy day! Our #ThankYouEvent is finally here. Take 30% off your entire purchase: https://t.co/nGQ9Pji1pN pic.twitter.com/vq4mIczm6A

What followed was a barrage of racist, vile, ignorant tweets. Yes, it’s 2016, we have a Black President, the 50th anniversary of Loving v. Virginia is next year, and some people are still angry that Black people and white people are creating families together.
For example, there’s this, from a “European rights activist,” aka, white supremacy activist:
Open Borders + Forced Integration + Multiracial everything 24/7 + Mixed future for WHITES = #WhiteGenocide. @OldNavy pic.twitter.com/oLoRA1u6wT
— Ann Kelly (@LadyAodh) May 1, 2016
Many were from Donald Trump supporters:
@OldNavy #bringbacksegregation #trump2016 STOP PROMOTING WHITE EXTINCTION! #whitepower

And more:
What’s this? A sick joke where the white guy doesn’t realize it’s not his kid? A commercial for cuckoldry?#WhiteGenocide@OldNavy

— Venture14 (@Venture14x) May 2, 2016
@OldNavy is that %30 off of forced “diversity” and white genocide?
— GlocKittyXe (@GlocKittyXe) May 2, 2016
Okay, @OldNavy just lost my business, @AntiGenocider. They should be running away from such #miscegenation. I mourn our childrens’ futures–

My family and I will never step into an @OldNavy store again. This miscegenation junk is rammed down our throats from every direction.

Of course, not all the responses were from racist trolls. Most were from people thrilled with the image and happy Old Navy was making an effort to show families like theirs:Â
Hey @OldNavy, my family and I thank you for the diversity in this ad! #LoveWins, no matter the color â¤ï¸ pic.twitter.com/TjgYUPMGu4
