GOP Presidential Candidate Says Trans People Are Imposing Their Lifestyle on Others – by Using Public Facilities

Senator Ted Cruz has actually decided to make the issue of where transgender people pee part of his stump speech and national platform. The GOP presidential candidate has been mocking transgender people and using the issue created by North Carolina’s anti-LGBT law HB2 as a wedge between himself and Donald Trump. Surprisingly, Trump opposes HB2, which bans transgender people from using public restrooms that conform with their gender identity. Cruz, the number two Republican presidential candidate, enthusiastically supports it.

After making nasty “jokes” about Donald Trump dressing up as Hillary Clinton, which as of Friday became part of his stump speech, Sen. Cruz announced on Saturday that transgender women shouldn’t use public restrooms, they should only use their bathrooms at home.

“Every one of us has the right to live our lives as we wish,” the Texas Tea Party Senator told a crowd in Plainsville, Indiana. “If any one of us wants to dress up as a woman or man and wants to live as woman or man and believes that we might be something other than what we were born, God has made each of us with free will and the ability to choose to do that if man to wants to dress as a woman, and live as a woman, and have a bathroom at home.”

Someone in the audience, likely a reporter, asked Cruz to clarify, to confirm that he was saying transgender women shouldn’t be allowed to use public restrooms at all.

“You don’t have a right to intrude upon the rights of others because whether or not a man believes he’s a woman, there are a lot of women who would like to be able to use a public restroom in peace without having a man there,” Cruz responded. “And when there are children involved, you don’t have a right to impose your lifestyle on others.”

Last week staffers at a Cruz rally kicked a 16-year old boy out of the event, because he is transgender.

‘Seditious Conspiracy’: Ethics Complaint Filed Against Rep. Madison Cawthorn, Other GOPers Over Capitol Coup

Published

An ethics complaint has been filed against three Republican members of Congress over their participation in events that led to the violent and deadly January 6 attempted coup at the U.S. Capitol.

Reps. Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina, and Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs of Arizona are accused of “a seditious conspiracy to use force to prevent Congress from carrying out its constitutional and statutory duties to count the votes of the Electoral College,” by the Campaign for Accountability, a government ethics watchdog founded by two former members of CREW.

If the House Ethics Office finds any or all of the three Republicans violated federal law, the group is asking for them to be expelled.

Cawthorn spoke at President Trump’s January 6 rally (photo), barely hours before the armed insurrection.

“This crowd has some fight in it,” Cawthorn told Trump’s MAGA supporters. “The Democrats, with all the fraud they have done in this election, the Republicans hiding and not fighting, they are trying to silence your voice. Make no mistake about it, they do not want you to be heard.”

North Carolina’s WLOS reports that “despite his tweets urging ‘millions of patriotic Americans stand for their country,’ Cawthorn said he felt no culpability in what unfolded” the day of the attempted coup.

“I don’t feel I had any responsibility for them attacking the Capitol,” Cawthorn said.

Two days before the domestic terror attack he posted this:

Gosar and Biggs also bear significant responsibility, according to the lead organizer.

“Far-right activist Ali Alexander, who helped rally Trump’s supporters ahead of Congress’ electoral count, has claimed he planned a rally that preceded the riot with the support of Gosar and Biggs,” The Hill reports, citing an article in The Washington Post.

Biden Vows to Confront Domestic Violent Extremism – Orders DNI, FBI, DHS to Conduct Comprehensive Threat Assessment

On its second full day in office the Biden administration is vowing to confront the “serious and growing national security threat” of domestic violent extremism, in the wake of the deadly January 6 insurrection at the Capitol, incited by President Donald Trump and his allies.

President Joe Biden has ordered the Office of Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to task the FBI and Dept. of Homeland Security with conducting a joint comprehensive threat assessment on domestic violence extremism (DV), White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Friday afternoon.

“The January 6 assault on the Capitol and the tragic deaths and destruction that occurred underscored what we have long known: the rise of domestic violent extremism is a serious and growing national security threat,” Psaki said, promising the administration “will confront this threat with the necessary resources and resolve” by “developing policies and strategies based on facts on objective and rigorous analysis.”

The Biden administration wants “fact based analysis, upon which we can shape policy,” Psaki said.

She also promised the National Security Council will “focus on countering domestic violent extremism,” and said the administration will “focus on addressing evolving threats, radicalization, the role of social media, opportunities to improve information sharing, operational responses, and more.”

In 2009, during the Obama administration a senior analyst for domestic terrorism at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security authored a report that warned of the threat of right wing extremist domestic violence. Outraged Republicans forced then-DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to scrap the report.  In a 2017 op-ed he wrote that white nationalists have become even more emboldened as a result.

‘Disingenuous Dumpster Fire’ Grassley Blasted for Saying Biden Should ‘Have Control’ Over House and Senate Dems

Published

on

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley is under fire after claiming Senators should be taking orders from the leader of their political party. The Iowa Republican has been in Congress since 1975, and until Thursday was third in the line of succession to the presidency, in his role as President pro tempore of the Senate.

Senator Grassley, in his usual, unique style of tweeting, claimed President Joe Biden should have “control” over Democrats in the House and Senate. The U.S. Constitution makes clear there are three separate branches of government, and nowhere does it even suggest lawmakers are beholden to the President or any other party leader.

“Pres Biden is preaching unity & healing while Dem leadership is focused on impeachment of a former president. Does Pres Biden not hv control of congressional Democrats as leader of party??? This move will surely slow up Biden cabinet confirmations/agenda + increase division,” Grassley tweeted.

Many on social media blasted the Iowa Republican for placing partisan politics over the U.S. Constitution’s checks and balances and the three co-equal branches of government,
