WATCH: Even Donald Trump (Donald Trump!) Says He’s Against North Carolina’s Anti-LGBT Law HB2
Says Caitlyn Jenner Can Use Any Restroom in Trump Tower She Chooses
Donald Trump is against same-sex marriage, benefits for same-sex couples, and last August insisted on calling Caitlyn Jenner “Bruce.” But today he very strongly denounced North Carolina‘s anti-LGBT law HB2, and said Caitlyn Jenner should be able to use any restroom she wants.
“North Carolina did something that was very strong, and they’re paying a big price and there’s a lot of problems,†Trump said during a “Today” show town hall Thursday morning. The GOP frontrunner added that lawmakers should have left things the way they were, rather than ban transgender people from using restrooms that comply with their gender identity.
The GOP frontrunner, likely to the surprise of many, offered a rational response, noting there “have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate, there has been so little trouble.”
Saying that Caitlyn Jenner could use any restroom in Trump Tower, Trump went on to tell those who think creating restrooms for transgender people is not only expensive but discriminatory.
“There’s a big move to create new bathrooms. Problem with that is … first of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is.”
Indeed, Trump is correct. HB2 has have a negative financial impact on the state of over a half-billion dollars, and that was published a week ago. Daily, businesses and entertainers are denouncing the law and refusing to add jobs or perform in the Tar Heel State because of HB2.
