WATCH: Stephen Colbert Hysterically Mocks North Carolina’s Anti-LGBT Law HB2

‘Late Night’ Host Says Even After the Civil War Abraham Lincoln and Robert E. Lee ‘Believed This Country Could Come Together’

Stephen Colbert Tuesday night hysterically mocked North Carolina‘s anti-LGBT bill HB2, noting boycotts from Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen, a canceled Paypal expansion, and even porn site XHamster’s blocking of North Carolina viewers.

“Now where are North Carolina hamsters going to go for their porn,” he quipped.

“While I respect those artists, I believe it is not my job to deny you my talents,” Colbert insisted. “I believe it is possible to use the magic of television to bridge out differences.”

He went on to note that after the Civil War, even Abraham Lincoln and Robert E. Lee “believed this country could come together.”

“That’s why, I will never withhold this show from anyone,” he promised. “I believe we must find common ground, and hold firm to those things that unite us all. We must cling to each other passionately.”
