WATCH: Awesome Viral Video Shows Florida Woman At Starbucks Slamming Gov. Scott For Failed Policies
Republican Rick Scott Forced to Leave Starbucks Without Even a Cup of Coffee After Constituent Screams at Him for Cutting Medicaid
What would you do if your governor cut Medicaid and access to vital healthcare services you depended upon? What would you do if your governor walked in to a Starbucks you were in, and you had the opportunity to confront him on it? Would you? Would you speak out, or go back to working on your laptop?
Cara Jennings in Gainsville, Florida, had that opportunity on Tuesday, and grabbed it by the horns and rode it for all it was worth.
“You cut Medicaid so I couldn’t get Obamacare,†Jennings shouts at Scott, who’s at the counter trying to get a cup of coffee.
A Scott aide tries to run interference. Jennings doesn’t miss a beat. “I’m not talking to you,” she cries.
“You’re an asshole,” she says to Gov. Scott. “You don’t care about working people. You should be ashamed to show your face around here.”
Scott tries to say that he’s created a million jobs. Â
“A million jobs? Great. Who here has a great job?,” Jennings asks as she looks around.
Scott smugly quips, “You should.”
“You stripped women of access to public health care,” Jennings, clearly well-informed, continues. “Shame on you Rick Scott. We depend on those services. Rich people like you don’t know what to do! Poor people like us need health services. You cut us! Shame on you Rick Scott, you’re an embarrassment to our state!”
Gawker, noting Scott left the Starbucks “without any coffee,” adds that Jennings is right about cutting funding to health care and reproductive services.
Jennings told ABC Action News that she knew she had to say something about the abortion bill to the governor when she saw him in her local Starbucks and that “a number of people came up to me and thanked me.â€
Scott is a Trump supporter. It’s pretty clear Jennings is not.
