TODAY: Michigan to Criminally Charge 3 People in Flint Water Crisis – Guess Who’s Not Among Them?

Michigan Attorney General Wednesday Will Announce Criminal Charges Against Three People. Not Among Them Is Gov. Rick Snyder.

At 1:00 PM EDT Wednesday Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette will announce felony and misdemeanor charges against three people involved in the Flint water crisis.

“The charges include violating Michigan’s drinking-water law, official misconduct, destruction of utility property and evidence tampering, according to one official,” the AP reports. The individuals expected to be charged are two Michigan Department of Environmental Quality officials and a Flint water treatment plant supervisor.

Not among them is Republican Gov. Rick Snyder, whom many believe is ultimately responsible for literally poisoning an entire city.

“Officials believe the city got artificially low lead readings because they didn’t test the homes most at risk — those with lead service lines or other features putting them at high risk for lead,” the Detroit Free Press reports. “Among those to be charged is a City of Flint official who signed a document saying the homes Flint used to test tap water under the federal Lead and Copper Rule all had lead service lines — a statement investigators allege was false.”

More charges are expected at a later date, as is Attorney General Schuette’s announcement he will run for governor. NCRM readers may remember Schuette as the man who lead the charge against same-sex marriage in Michigan.
