WATCH: Cruz Says Nondiscrimination Laws Allow Men ‘To Go Alone Into a Bathroom With My Daughters’

Neither Ted Cruz Nor Chuck Todd Have Any Understanding of What Being Transgender Is – Nor Do They Care To

Ted Cruz called transgender women “men” and suggested they are sexual predators dangerous to children in an MSNBC town hall Thursday night in Buffalo, New York. His comments were in response to questions about North Carolina‘s unconstitutional, anti-LGBT law HB2.

“I’m a constitutionalist. And the state has the power to pass their own laws that men should not be going to the bathroom with little girls,” the Texas Tea Party Senator told ‘Meet the Press’ host Chuck Todd, to loud applause from his supporters. “As the father of daughters I’m not terribly excited about men being able to go alone into a bathroom with my daughters, and I think that’s a perfectly reasonable determination for the people to make.”

Todd did not explain to Cruz that he is mis-gendering transgender women, nor has there ever been a documented case of a transgender woman sexually assaulting little girls in a restroom. Todd also wrongly stated that “the governor signed an executive order because he was worried that the law was going to go too far and make it so that you could discriminate against lesbians and gays.”

In fact, despite Chuck Todd not being familiar with any part of the national news on HB2, Gov. Pat McCrory’s executive order does almost nothing to roll back the anti-LGBT law. It is also not today and it has never been against state law to discriminate against LGBT people in North Carolina.

Cruz went on to denounce “the political correctness that we have embraced – enough already,” he exclaimed. He then slammed “the Obama Education Department,” which, he says, “is going against a junior high, insisting that the junior high must allow a teenaged boy to shower with teenaged girls. Now, that’s just nuts,” Cruz cried.

In fact, the Obama administration is ensuring that transgender students are protected and allowed to use the facilities that comply with their gender identity.

Earlier this week Cruz tried to deflect criticism that he had delivered a speech and even shared the stage and joked around with a far right wing pastor who repeatedly has called for gay people to be put to death.
