NBA Commissioner: No Plans To Move All-Star Game Out Of North Carolina Despite Anti-LGBT Law

Calls Anti-LGBT Law HB2 ‘Problematic’

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says he has no plans to even discuss moving the 2017 All-Star game out of Charlotte after Gov. Pat McCrory signed an unconstitutional anti-LGBT law. Silver calls HB2 “problematic” but refuses to even consider moving the game.

“The current state of the law is problematic for the league. But we’re not making any announcements now. We can be most constructive by working with elected officials to affect change,” Silver told the league’s board of governors at today’s meeting in New York, the Charlotte Observer reports.

Rather than moving the game out of the Tar Heel State, Silver says, “We should be working toward change in North Carolina,” according to WSOC-TV.

Pulling the game out of Charlotte would cost the local economy an estimated $100 million.
