John Boehner Comes Out of Retirement to Call Ted Cruz ‘Lucifer in the Flesh’

Former GOP Speaker of the House Has Less Than Fond Memories of GOP Senator and Presidential Candidate

John Boehner made a rare post-retirement public speaking appearance at Stanford University Wednesday evening and shared a few less-than supportive words about Senator Ted Cruz.

“You can call me boner, beaner, jackass, happy to answer to almost anything,” Speaker Boehner told his audience at the CEMEX Auditorium.

David M. Kennedy, faculty director and history professor emeritus, “asked Boehner to be frank given that the event was not being broadcasted, and the former Speaker responded in kind. When specifically asked his opinions on Ted Cruz, Boehner made a face, drawing laughter from the crowd,” The Stanford Daily reports.

“Lucifer in the flesh,” Boehner called Cruz. “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.”

Boehner also said he and Donald Trump are “texting buddies.”

Ohio Governor John Kasich, Boehner told the audience, “requires more effort on my behalf than all my other friends … but he’s still my friend, and I love him.”

The Stanford Daily also reports Boehner will vote for Trump, despite his policies, but never for Cruz.
