Donald Trump’s Children Just Couldn’t Find the Time to Register to Vote for Their Father

GOP Frontrunner Says They Were ‘Unaware of the Rules’

Despite declaring his candidacy back on June 16, 2015 (photo), Donald Trump says two of his adult children, Ivanka, 34, and Eric, 32, were “unaware of the rules” and did not register to vote in the family’s home state of New York. Trump told Fox News Monday that both children missed the deadline, which was March 30, as Talking Points Memo first reported.

“They had a long time [to] register and they were, you know, unaware of the rules, and they didn’t register in time,” Trump said in a call in to “Fox and Friends.”

“So they feel very, very guilty.”

“They feel very guilty. But it’s fine. I understand that. I think they have to register a year in advance and they didn’t. So Eric and Ivanka, I guess, won’t be voting.”

Talking Points Memo notes the New York Board of Elections “deadline to change party enrollment was Oct. 9, 2015 – the earliest change-of-party deadline in the country.”
