Lawmakers Moved Quickly to Complete Voting on Virulently Anti-Gay Bill Which Is Now on Its Way to the Governor
Minutes ago Mississippi House lawmakers completed the final vote on HB 1523, what some have described as the most anti-LGBT bill introduced this year. Wednesday night the bill had been passed by the Senate but it returned to the House for a reconciliation vote. Right now it i headed to Republican Governor Phil Bryant’s desk. He has indicated he is likely to sign it.

House lawmakers, fully aware of the firestorm created by North Carolina’s Gov. Pat McCrory when he signed HB2, a sweeping anti-LGBT law that has garnered nationwide condemnation in the past weeks, fast tracked the bill this morning. It wasn’t expected to receive final votes until sometime next week.
