Trump Warns if He Doesn’t Win GOP Nomination at Convention, ‘I Think You’d Have Riots’ (Video)

Warning or Threat?

Donald Trump Wednesday morning said if he does not win the GOP nomination before the Republican convention, and is deprived of the nod then, America will see “riots” in the streets.

“I think we’ll win before getting to the convention, but I can tell you, if we didn’t and if we’re 20 votes short or if we’re 100 short and we’re at 1,100 and somebody else is at 500 or 400 cause we’re way ahead of everybody, I don’t think you can say that we don’t get it automatically,” Trump told CNN’s Chris Cuomo. “I think you’d have riots. I think you’d have riots. I’m representing a tremendous — many, many millions of people.””

“I wouldn’t lead it, but I think bad things would happen,” Trump said, warning his losing the nomination would “disenfranchise” supporters.

This is far from the first time Trump has displayed a basic ignorance of the basics of American democracy.

In addition to his ultra-authoritarian ruling style, Trump last week claimed, falsely, his First Amendment rights were being violated after he opted to cancel a rally in Chicago, when a large number of protestors showed up.

On Twitter, some mocked his warning, while others suggested it was threatening.
