Trump Says He Will Only Appoint To Supreme Court Nominees Approved By Anti-Gay, Anti-Immigrant Group

GOP Frontrunner Says He Will Reveal List of 10 Nominees Next Week

All of Donald Trump‘s Supreme Court nominees will have the Heritage Foundation‘s seal of approval. So says the GOP presidential frontrunner, who adds he is readying the list for release next week.

“I’m going to submit a list of justices, potential justices of the United States Supreme Court, that I will appoint from the list,” Trump said Monday at a construction event in Washington, D.C., according to TIME. “I won’t go beyond that list. Some people say maybe I’ll appoint a liberal judge. I’m not appointing a liberal judge.”

TIME reports Trump said “he would only pick from that list, which is being made in consultation with the conservative Heritage Foundation.”

The Heritage Foundation, a Top 20 “Think Tanks Worldwide” conservative organization with revenues of more than $100 million, was created by three conservatives in response to what they believed was a President Richard Nixon who was too liberal.

Today, the organization has moved dramatically further right, and is headed by former U.S. Republican Senator Jim DeMint. It is know for its anti-immigrant and anti-gay positions, which it broadcasts by way of position papers and senior fellow speeches and media appearances. It also publishes the right wing website The Daily Signal.

In 2013 the organization came under fire when it was revealed its report on immigration was written by a senior fellow whose previous work stated his beliefs that Blacks and Hispanics are intellectually inferior.

Ironically, Obamacare is based in part on a Heritage 1989 policy paper.
