Samantha Bee brought the funny with her from her 12 years at “The Daily Show,” and on her latest episode of “Full Frontal” on TBS the comedian who wears many hats took liberals and Democrats to task for “building” the machine that created Donald Trump today.
You may be asking how and why, but in truth, just as we’ve seen in this years Democratic caucuses and primaries, low Democratic turnout allows, as Bee says, “old, and white, and super cranky” conservatives to pick who wins – as they did in 2010.
“If you didn’t vote in 2010, you built that,” Bee says, pointing to the current GOP frontrunner.
Yes, the Tea Party and crazy conservatives who snatched the House and Senate from Democrats in the 2010 midterms brought with them the vitriol and hate that led to the kind of Washington we see today. And the gridlock that has accompanied it.
Today, Americans are “so frustrated, they’re willing to vote for the first two bit wall salesman who says he’ll stop Mexicans from raping their jobs,” Bee says, of course referring to Donald Trump.
And it didn’t only affect D.C. Bee reminds us that apathetic Democrats helped turn the states “redder than Carrie’s prom dress.”
