Bill Awaits Governor’s Signature
The man who co-founded The Home Depot and owns the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons has come out strongly against HB 757, an anti-gay bill that is awaiting the Governor of Georgia‘s signature. Arthur Blank says the bill, which would legalize anti-LGBT discrimination, especially against same-sex couples, will have a long-term negative affect on the Peach State.
“One of my bedrock values is ‘Include Everyone’ and it’s a principle we embrace and strive to live each and every day with my family and our associates, a vast majority of which live and work in Georgia,” Blank wrote in a statement.
“I strongly believe a diverse, inclusive and welcoming Georgia is critical to our citizens and the millions of visitors coming to enjoy all that our great state has to offer. House Bill 757 undermines these principles and would have long-lasting negative impact on our state and the people of Georgia.”

The bill had its final votes this week. It is unknown if Republican Gov. Nathan Deal will sign it. In speaking about an earlier version of the bill, Deal had indicated he would not support discrimination. Should the governor decide to veto HB 757, some believe lawmakers have enough vote to override it.
