Conservatives Slam Obama For Not Cowering To Brussels Terror

Even Though Belgium, Not America, Was Attacked, Conservatives Insist Obama Should Drop Everything and Return to Washington

President Barack Obama is on a historic trip to Cuba, and from there he’ll be traveling to Argentina, but conservatives insist he should be in the Oval Office instead. The President, defending his choice to not head home and cower, Tuesday afternoon told reporters why.

“The whole premise of terrorism is to try to disrupt people’s ordinary lives,” President Obama, speaking to ESPN, said. “It’s always a challenge when you have a terrorist attack anywhere in the world. You want to be respectful and understand the gravity.”

The President continued, saying that one of the “most powerful memories” of his presidency was “watching Boston respond after the marathon” bombing,” The Guardian reports.

“And when [Boston Red Sox player David] Ortiz went out, and said – probably the only time America didn’t have a problem with some person on live TV – was when he talked about Boston, how strong it is.”

“That is the kind of resilience and the kind of strength that we have to continually show in the face of these terrorists.”

“They cannot defeat America. They don’t produce anything, they don’t have a message that appeals” to Muslims or non-Muslims, he continues.

“What they can do is scare us, and make people afraid and disrupt our daily lives, and as long as we don’t allow that to happen, we’re going to be OK.”

But conservatives opted to ignore President Obama’s advice, along with his Republican predecessor’s advice, and attack him for not cowering in fear, for not disrupting his agenda. They insist he should return immediately to Washington, D.C. – or, as Ted Cruz said, he should fly to Brussels to “keep America safe.”

GOP Rep. Peter King of New York insisted Obama “has to come back.” 

“Come back and assert leadership,” King said. “We are the leader of the free world in the fight against ISIS. It’s important for ISIS to know that. This is much more important than Cuba. You can’t come back in a panic but he has to come back.”

Fox News’ Stuart Varney complained that “the optics don’t look good.”

“Here is the president of the United States, in a foreign country, shaking hands with a communist dictator, as people die and Europe is paralyzed by terror,” he said. “As the West comes under attack.”
