Breaking: Marco Rubio Makes ‘Unprecedented’ Move – Refuses To Release Convention Delegates

Former GOP Presidential Candidate Tries Big Play

Marco Rubio may have dropped out of the presidential race but his delegates are still obligated to support him at the convention, at least on the first ballot. Candidates ordinarily release delegates when they quit a presidential race, but not Marco Rubio. He is holding on to all of them.

The Florida GOP Senator sent the Chairman of the Republican Party of Alaska a letter making clear he has not released his delegates, and is holding them to their duties. RNC Chair Reince Priebus was copied on the letter:

Sen. Rubio “is personally asking state parties in 21 states and territories to refrain from releasing any of the 172 delegates he won while campaigning this year, MSNBC has learned,” according to NBC News’ Ari Melber, who calls the move “unprecedented.”

Rubio aide Alex Burgos told MSNBC that while the Florida senator is “no longer a candidate,” he “wants to give voters a chance to stop Trump.”

Is this enough to stop Trump from winning the GOP nomination? Probably not, but it’s another roadblock the GOP frontrunner will now have to maneuver.
