Subpoena Sent Overnight, Emergency Manager ‘Declined’ It

Tuesday night Darnell Earley was sent a subpoena to testify before Congress. He refused it, and through his attorney said it “borders on nonsensical.” Earley was the emergency manager who oversaw the switch of Flint, Michigan’s drinking water supply that resulted in a health crisis for the city, including irreversible lead poisoning of thousands of children.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) as this morning’s hearing began observed Earley’s refusal to obey the subpoena.

“We’re calling on US Marshals to hunt [Earley] down and give him the subpoena to testify. He will be here,” Chaffetz (photo) promised. “When you get invited to testify in front of the Oversight and Government Reform committee, you are going to show up.”
