Bernie Sanders: Trump Engaged In ‘Racist Effort To Try To Delegitimize’ President Obama (Video)
At the CNN Democratic Town Hall Bernie Sanders Takes a Swipe at Donald Trump
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders told voters at Tuesday night’s Democratic town hall that Americans “have been dealing in the last seven years with an unprecedented level of obstructionism against President Obama.” His comment drew huge applause from the Columbia, South Carolina audience.Â
Senator Sanders reminded voters that on the day President Obama was inaugurated, top Republicans gathered to decide on a plan to deal with the nation’s first Black president, which, he said, was “obstruct, obstruct, obstruct.”
“What you are seeing in this Supreme Court situation is nothing more than the continuous unprecedented obstructionism that President Obama has gone through. And this is on top of the birther issue which we heard from Donald Trump and others, a racist effort to try to delegitimize the President of the United States.”
Sanders followed up by noting that “nobody has asked for my birth certificate – maybe it’s the color of my skin,” he said, pointing to his wrist. “I don’t know.”
