Watch Live: Donald Trump ‘Celebrates’ Martin Luther King By Delivering Speech At Liberty University

Racist GOP Presidential Candidate To Speak At Christian Evangelical University Whose Founder Denounced Martin Luther King, Jr.

Donald Trump, the GOP frontrunner whose presidential campaign was launched on a platform of racism and xenophobia, will speak to students and faculty at Liberty University, the nation’s largest Christian evangelical school of higher education.

Trump’s speech is scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM EST, and you can watch right here, below.

Liberty University was founded by the late televangelist Jerry Falwell, who denounced Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In 1965 Falwell “suggested that King was a communist,” and “criticized ‘left-wing’ leaders of the ‘so-called freedom movement’ for stirring up hatred and violence, according to Stephen Prothero, professor of religion at Boston University. “Preachers are not called to be politicians but to be soul winners,” Falwell said.

Falwell’s son, Jerry Falwell, Jr., is now the President of Liberty University, and says the choice of Martin Luther King Day is no coincidence.

“We chose that day so that Mr. Trump would have the opportunity to recognize and honor Dr. King on MLK day,” he told The News and Advance, explaining by saying that for Veterans Day they chose a speaker, Dr. Ben Carson, who is not a veteran.

“The plan from the beginning was to do something similar for Dr. King for MLK Day even though the keynote speaker is not a civil rights expert.”
