Famous Illustrator Wanted To Create ‘Attitudes Of Consternation’

The cover of this week’s The New Yorker features illustrator Barry Blitt’s creation of late, great Presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt, George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, George Washington, and Abe Lincoln all looking disgusted at a television with Donald Trump speaking.

“In most historical portraits, Presidents are noble and dignified,” Barry Blitt says of his cover for this week’s issue. “My biggest challenge was to alter the Presidents’ expressions to make them reflect attitudes of consternation.”
