GOP Debate: Ted Cruz’s Attack On ‘New York Values’ Sparks Twitter Hashtag Campaign And It’s Awesome
Ted Cruz was confronted with his “New York Values” slur, prompting Twitter to respond beautifully.
Earlier this week Ted Cruz tried to attack Donald Trump by saying he “embodies New York values.”Â
Responding to a conservative radio host, Cruz said, “Well, look, I think he may shift in his new rallies to play ‘New York, New York’ because Donald comes from New York and he embodies New York values.” It was clearly an attack not just on Trump but on all New Yorkers, one conservatives often use.Â
At the GOP Debate Thursday night, Cruz was confronted with that attack and tried to weasel out of it. Trump used the opportunity against Cruz, and delivered a tribute to New York, describing what NYC was like on and after 9/11. He concluded by saying his feelings were hurt. Any New Yorker will say it was masterful.
