Planned Parenthood Responds To Indictment Of Anti-Choice Activists Who Created Fake Videos

Planned Parenthood is not mincing words after learning two top anti-choice activists who created the fake Planned Parenthood videos were indicted today.

Late Monday afternoon two anti-choic activists highly-involved with the Center for Medical Progress‘ creation of fake, highly-edited, and controversial videos were indicted by a grand jury in Texas. The grand jury, as NCRM reported, had been investigating Planned Parenthood, but found no evidence of illegal activity by the women’s health care provider. It did, however, indict David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt both on a felony charge.

“These anti-abortion extremists spent three years creating a fake company, creating fake identities, lying, and breaking the law,” Eric Ferrero, Planned Parenthood’s vice president of communications, said in a statement, according to Buzzfeed. “When they couldn’t find any improper or illegal activity, they made it up.”

“These people broke the law to spread malicious lies about Planned Parenthood in order to advance their extreme anti-abortion political agenda. As the dust settles and the truth comes out, it’s become totally clear that the only people who engaged in wrongdoing are the criminals behind this fraud, and we’re glad they’re being held accountable.”

Each could face up to 20 years in jail if convicted.
