Watch: President Obama Speaks Out About Active San Bernardino Shooting Event

President Barack Obama shares his thoughts about yet another mass shooting, still ongoing.

President Barack Obama happened to be speaking with CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell when news broke of today’s ongoing mass shooting in San Bernardino, California. The shooting, law enforcement just announced, has left 14 people dead and another 14 injured so far.

The President appeared saddened as he spoke after being briefed on today’s attack, and called for “common sense gun safety laws.”

“We don’t know that much yet,” the President said, adding, but, the “one thing we do know is that we have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world.”

“We should never think this is something that just happens in the normal course of events,” Pres. Obama said. “There are steps we can take to make Americans safer.”

“We don’t yet know what the motives of the shooters are but what we do know is that there are steps we can take to make Americans safer,” Obama said. “We should never think that this is just something that just happens in the ordinary course of events because it doesn’t happen with the same frequency in other countries.”

“I mean, I say this every time we go one of these mass shootings, this just doesn’t happen in other countries,” President Obama insisted.
