Watch: Jimmy Carter Announces His Cancer Is Gone

Former President Jimmy Carter seemingly has made a dramatic recovery from brain cancer.

Less than four months ago, former President Jimmy Carter made a stunning announcement: “Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body.” One week later, he announced that doctors discovered the cancer had spread to four areas of his brain, and he might not have long to live, saying he was “ready for a new journey” should the cancer treatments not save his life.

“Hope for the best and accept what comes,” he said, as many across the nation were shocked and saddened.

Today, the 91-year old Democrat and former President stood before the Sunday school he often teaches, and shared that his cancer seems to be gone.

“When I went (for an MRI) this week they didn’t find any cancer at all,” Carter said, as NBC News reports. “So I have good news. So a lot of people prayed for me, and I appreciate that.”

The Carter Center later put out this statement:

“My most recent MRI brain scan did not reveal any signs of the original cancer spots nor any new ones. I will continue to receive regular 3-week immunotherapy treatments of pembrolizumab.”
