Clinton Campaign Launches New Ad: ‘Gay Rights Are Human Rights’ (Video)

Hillary Clinton renews her promises to the LGBT community in a new campaign ad.

In a new ad posted Sunday, the Clinton campaign is reminding supporters that back in 2011 as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton pronounced that “Gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights.” Clinton made that declaration before she or any top Obama administration official announced support for same-sex marriage.

“Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans deserve to live their lives free from discrimination,” the video’s notes on YouTube state. “Hillary knows the fight for LGBT equality will not be finished until every American can not only marry, but also live, work, pray, learn, and raise a family free from discrimination.”

The video features several same-sex couples from previous campaign videos.

The Advocate’s Sunnivie Brydum today noted the 60-second spot “features several excerpts from Clinton’s sweeping October speech to volunteers at the Human Rights Campaign, where the she laid out 10 promises to the LGBT community she would fulfill if elected president.”
