Stephen Colbert is a guest on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” Sunday. John Dickerson asks his fellow talk show host what he would ask Jesus, who is Colbert’s “dream” interview.

“Is this all these is? Is it all here or is there something after this?,” Colbert said his first question would be.

“Is it all here are is there something afterwards? Is the kingdom of heaven around us and we do not see it, or if there really is — If I’m good do I get something? Or is it just being good what I get?”

Colbert, on a roll, offered more questions for Jesus.

“Would you put in a good word with your dad for me? I love your mom, she’s so great. Does she ever talk about me?”

Then, he asks Dickerson, “Is it bad to say that, ‘I think your mom is kind of cute?’ Is that bad? Because as a Catholic boy, you know, in some ways you’re supposed to be as strong as a centurion, but as gentle as Jesus, and every girl should look like the Virgin Mary,” he said, referencing his Catholic school teachings.

Colbert on ocassion has been very upfront about his Catholic faith. But he tells Dickerson that these days he doesn’t think much about whether or not there’s an afterlife.

“I don’t put that much in it anymore. I’m actually much more enjoying being with the people that I’m with now.”
