San Bernardino Shooting: NY Daily News Slams GOP ‘Cowards’ Who ‘Hide Behind Meaningless Platitudes’
One of the top newspapers in America just took top Republican politicians to task for their “prayers” but lack of action on guns.
Thursday’s front page of the New York Daily News slams Republicans who oppose gun control and think “prayers” are enough.
“God Isn’t Fixing This, the headline reads, surrounded by the tweets of four Republicans – Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Lindsey Graham, and Paul Ryan – all of whom used the word “prayers” to recognize today’s attack in San Bernardino, which is still ongoing, and so far has left 14 people dead.
“As latest batch of innocent Americans are left lying in pools of blood, cowards who could truly end gun scourge continue to hide behind meaningless platitudes,” the subhead reads.

The Daily News story closely reflects one The New Civil Rights Movement published hours ago, “Twitter Explodes Against Pro-Gun Politicians Offering ‘Thoughts And Prayers’ On Shooting.”
In our story, we note that “possibly for the first time ever, many people are unabashedly attacking politicians and demanding immediate action on gun control during an active shooting event.”
We show about two dozen strongly worded tweets, mostly targeted at GOP politicians who, like the Daily News shows, offered “thoughts and prayers” for the victims, yet refuse to take any action to stem the rising tide of gun violence.
