Half Of American Voters Say They Would Be ‘Embarrassed’ To Have A President Donald Trump

Half of American voters would be “embarrassed” to have Donald Trump as president, a new poll finds.

Fully half of American voters, including one out of five Republicans, say they would be “embarrassed” having Donald Trump as the President of the United States. The just-released Quinnipiac poll also shows 82 percent of Democrats and 47 percent of independents feel the same.

Overall only 23 percent, less than one in four, Americans say they would be “proud” of a President Trump.

But among Republicans, that number jumps to 44 percent.

By comparison, 33 percent of Americans would feel proud to have a President Hillary Clinton, 35 percent would feel embarrassed. On the same issue, the poll did not ask voters about Bernie Sanders or Martin O’Malley.

Looking forward to the election, 59 percent of those polled say Hillary Clinton “would have a good chance of defeating the Republican nominee in the general election for President.” That includes 86 percent of Democrats and 36 percent of Republicans.

Just 41 percent overall say Donald Trump “would have a good chance of defeating the Democratic nominee in the general election for President.” Seven out of ten Republicans agree, while only 14 percent of Democrats do.
