President Obama Just Commented On This Man’s Story On Facebook Which Is Why You Should Read It

President Barack Obama left a heartwarming welcome on the extremely popular Facebook page Humans of New York. The story is not about a New Yorker, but about a man apparently born in Syria but now living in Turkey, who will be coming to America as a refugee. “Welcome to your new home,” President Obama wrote Wednesday night. “You’re part of what makes America great.” Read his heartbreaking and tragic story to learn why.

As you can see there are a total of seven posts in this man’s story. We’re only including a few here but we urge you to read them on Facebook.

Humans of New York founder, creator, photographer, interviewer Brandon Stanton in a Facebook post explains that he interviewed “twelve Syrian families that have been cleared for resettlement in America.” This man is one of those twelve.

“These families have just reached the finish line of a multi-year screening process, and it was quite an emotional experience to meet with them at this juncture. The life of a refugee in America is by no means easy. But for these families, their resettlement has finally brought the possibility of an end to years of intense hardship.”

This is not the first time President Obama has left a comment on a Humans of New York Facebook story. In September the President reached out to commend a 10-year old boy from Iran.

Humans of New York has over 16 million fans on Facebook. There is also a Humans of New York book you can buy on Amazon.
