Mike Huckabee Just Lost His Top Campaign Spokesperson

In yet another indication Mike Huckabee’s campaign for president is imploding, his top spokesperson just left.

Mike Huckabee‘s campaign is floundering. His poll numbers are terrible. His Christian Evangelical base has drifted to Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio – and even to Donald Trump. And now, his top spokesperson just left his campaign.

Alice Stewart made the announcement herself, leading some to assume she quit, but the veteran spokesperson would not elaborate other than to say she was “no longer” working with Huckabee’s campaign in any capacity.

In the latest state and national polls, former governor Huckabee is averaging between 1 and 3 percent.

Stewart was formerly the spokesperson for Rick Santorum during the 2012 campaign, and, as Politico reports, had her own radio show based in Huckabee’s home state of Arkansas.

The announcement led Washington Post right-wing blogger Jennifer Rubin to offer up this tweet:

Buzzfeed’s Rosie Gray tweeted this observation:

And one local Des Moines, Iowa reporter posted this comment:

But perhaps the most interesting comment is one Stewart made herself, back in September, as CNN tweeted then.

“We’re in this for the long haul…it’s not about being hot right now. It’s about being hot…in Feb.”

It’s not looking like February will include a Mike Huckabee candidacy.
