Look: Ben Carson Politicizes Christmas

Not that anyone’s surprised, but a week before Christmas, Ben Carson decided to politicize the Christian observance of Jesus Christ’s birth.

No one of course is surprised, but Ben Carson isn’t afraid to say “Merry Christmas” – nor is he afraid to politicize it.

In a photo he posted to Facebook that went viral, Carson garnered over 650,000 “likes” in just 24 hours. The photo shows the retired pediatric neurosurgeon and former GOP frontrunner, now polling fifth, holding a sign that says, “Merry Christmas,” and beneath it, the ichthys, or Jesus fish.

In the description, Carson writes, “Not afraid to say Merry Christmas!”

It’s a repeat of a previous attempt to use religion to further his standing with Christian conservatives. Just after the tragic shooting at an Oregon community college, after which conservatives falsely claimed the shooter was targeting Christians, Carson posted a photo of him inside a limo, holding a sign that read, “I Am A Christian.”

On Twitter over the past 24 hours, many mocked Carson’s Christmas photo:

Of course, it’s even easier to say “Merry Christmas!” when you make money doing so:
