LISTEN: Ted Cruz Just Said ‘The Overwhelming Majority Of Violent Criminals Are Democrats’

GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz continues to deflect accusations of blame for the Planned Parenthood terror attack by lashing out at Democrats.

Offering absolutely zero proof, Tea Party Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz Monday afternoon told conservative pundit Hugh Hewitt that “the simple and undeniable fact is the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats.”

Cruz has been working hard ever since the horrific terror attack on Planned Parenthood to redirect accusations that his anti-abortion rhetoric and lies about the Planned Parenthood videos contributed to a climate of hate that led to the murders of three people Friday.

Hewitt said that in 25 years he’s never once met “a single pro-life activist who is in favor of violence of any sort.”

“This whole episode has really displayed the ugly underbelly of media,” Cruz told Hewitt, Politico reports. “Every time you have some sort of violent crime or mass killing you can almost see the media salivating. Hoping, hoping desperately that the murderer happens to be a Republican so they can use it to try to paint their political enemies.”

Building on his false claims that President Barack Obama wants to give amnesty to undocumented immigrants to strengthen the Democratic base, Cruz said, “Democrats for years have been viewed as soft on crime,” because “Democrats know convicted felons tend to vote Democrat.”

Earlier this month the Huffington Post reported Cruz “said allowing undocumented immigrants to gain citizenship would put more Democrats in power.”

Politico says the Cruz campaign did not respond to their request for a source of Cruz’s claim.

NCRM could find no legitimate study that supports Cruz’s claim. We were, however, able to find that Democrats run the least violent cities in America, and that eight out of the ten most violent states are red states (based on 2012 presidential election results.)
