Pataki To Join Growing List Of GOP Presidential Candidates Who Quit 2016 Race – Who’ll Be Next?

George Pataki is preparing to announce he is quitting the 2016 race for the Republican nomination for president.

Goodbye George Pataki.

The former New York Republican governor is in the process of exiting the race for the White House with barely less presence than he had during the seven months and one day he was in it.

When Pataki, a moderate Republican who was governor during 9/11, announce his candidacy in late May, many people either asked, “Who?” or “Why?”

In fact, NCRM reported on Pataki entering the race with this: “Three Term Republican Former NY Governor George Pataki Enters Presidential Race, To Yawns.”

We also ran this: “Who Is This George Pataki Guy And Where Does He Stand On Issues Like Same-Sex Marriage?.”

Pataki did have a few more acceptable positions than some Republican candidates, and was occasionally the voice of reason in GOP debates, and, when he felt like it, when some issues cropped up. He slammed Mike Huckabee on transgender issues: “‘Respect Not Mock’: GOP’s George Pataki Chastises Mike Huckabee For His Anti-Trans Comments.”

Pataki joins fellow Republican 2016 former candidates Lindsey Graham, Rick Perry, Scott Walker, and Bobby Jindal.

Who will be next?

Mike Huckabee, polling at 1 to 2% admitted he’ll drop out if he doesn’t have a strong showing in Iowa. Rick Santorum, literally polling at 0% is still in – no one knows why.

Carly Fiorina is polling at about 1%. John Kasich is polling at 2%.

Jeb Bush is flailing, now polling between 3% and 4%, and Rand Paul at 2-4%.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s numbers continue to grow. The latest national poll, CNN/ORC one week ago put the GOP frontrunner at 39%, a 21-point lead over number two ranked Ted Cruz.
