Breaking: Bernie Sanders Will Regain Access To DNC Voter Data By Morning

After at least 60 hours of being locked out of the DNC voter database, the Bernie Sanders campaign will regain access by Saturday morning.

The Bernie Sanders campaign was locked out of the DNC voter database, and with that they say, locked out of the ability to reach out to donors and supporters. After being locked out Wednesday afternoon, the campaign threatened to sue the DNC Friday afternoon, and followed through, filing a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for Washington, D.C.

“Late Friday, after discussions with the DNC and a federal judge, Sanders’ campaign will regain access to the national voter file,” Politico reports.

Just past midnight Saturday morning, Debbie Wasserman Schultz posted a tweet announcing the Sanders campaign would regain access, reinforcing the DNC’s claim it was requiring the Sanders campaign some form of proof it had not retained any data:

Chairwoman Wasserman Schultz on the DNC website added that “we are restoring the Sanders campaign’s access to the voter file, but will continue to investigate to ensure that the data that was inappropriately accessed has been deleted and is no longer in possession of the Sanders campaign. The Sanders campaign has agreed to fully cooperate with the continuing DNC investigation of this breach. The fact that data was accessed inappropriately is completely unacceptable, and the DNC expects each campaign to operate with integrity going forward with respect to the voter file.”

Friday night, amid the chaos, the Clinton campaign several times accused the Sanders campaign of theft.

Politico reported Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook claimed Sanders staffers “stole data as a reason to raise money for their campaign,” noting the Sanders campaign fundraised off the breach and subsequent lockout.

“Urgent: DNC tipping the scales for Hillary Clinton,” a Sanders email blast accused.

Upon learning access would be restored, the Sanders campaign announced, “We are extremely pleased that the DNC has reversed its outrageous decision… Clearly, they were very concerned about their prospects in court. Now what we need to restore confidence in the DNC’s ability to secure data is an independent audit that encompasses the DNC’s record this entire campaign.”
