Ben Carson Is Now Threatening To Quit The GOP – Here’s Why

Ben Carson, who is rapidly dropping in the polls, Friday morning issued a blistering threat to the RNC.

News broke in the Washington Post this week that about 20 top Republican Party officials gathered at a monthly GOP dinner to deal with the expected chaos at next year’s GOP convention if a clear frontrunner has not yet been determined, based on the number of delegates each candidate has. It’s called a brokered convention, and the party hasn’t seen one in decades – not since 1976.

Some in the GOP are furious, claiming the real intent is try to undermine a Trump nomination.

Ben Carson is now one of them, and he’s now accusing the RNC of possible “theft” if they indeed hold a brokered convention, which doesn’t make a good deal of sense if there is not a clear frontrunner come convention time in July. “I won’t stand for it,” he claimed.

“If the leaders of the Republican Party want to destroy the party, they should continue to hold meetings like the one described in the Washington Post this morning,” Carson said in a statement this morning, as The Hill reports.

“If this was the beginning of a plant to subvert the will of the voters and replace it with the will of the political elite, I assure you Donald Trump will not be the only one leaving the party,” he added.

“I pray that the report in the Post this morning was incorrect,” he said in the statement. “If it is correct, every voter who is standing for change must know they are being betrayed.”

“If the powerful try to manipulate it, the Republican National Convention in Cleveland next summer may be the last convention,” Carson continued. “I am prepared to lose fair and square, as I am sure is Donald. But I will not sit by and watch a theft.”
