Local Armed Citizen Approached Police At Planned Parenthood Shooting Site Offering To ‘Help’
A man armed with a handgun and ammunition vest walked through the snow offering to help police, a SWAT team, sheriff’s deputies, and possibly federal law enforcement officials.
For the past our hours there has been an active shooter at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood. At least four police officers have been injured by gunfire as well as an undetermined number of civilians.
But at some point a few hours ago, according to a local newspaper, The Gazette, one citizen thought perhaps all those law enforcement officers – at least dozens, possibly near 100 – might need a hand.
“There was a moment this afternoon when a man walked up to the scene with a handgun strapped to his waist and ammunition vest around his chest,” The Gazette reports. “He appeared to be asking police if he could help. Officers told him to leave immediately because appearing at the scene while wearing firearms and that equipment was a bad idea.”
