KKK Flyers Promote ‘Gay Bashing’ To ‘Stop AIDS’ – And A Florida Nondiscrimination Ordinance

The KKK is reportedly targeting homes of LGBT people in Jacksonville, where a nondiscrimination ordinance is being hotly debated.

Jacksonville, Florida is just one of the latest cities looking into adopting a nondiscrimination ordinance. The mere discussion of it, the Jacksonville Human Rights Ordinance, prompted one 25-year old to reportedly call a local newspaper and threaten to bomb the next meeting if the ordinance was taken up.

That’s not the only threat opponents of equality and promoters of hate have made.

Via Facebook there are several reports of disgusting KKK flyers appearing “at the homes of LGBT people – and surely others – in Jacksonville.”

Jimmy Midyette, whom Towleroad reports is the legislative director for local activist group Jacksonville Coalition of Equality, posted the image above to Facebook, calling it “an unfortunate consequence of our recent success. Both with marriage equality and the progress we’re making on equality in Jacksonville, we sadly can expect the vocal minority to freak out.”

“Between this and the bomb threat made yesterday, our vigilance is required,” Midyette warns.

That same image was posted to Facebook by another person, who says it was on her “friend’s door today.” She calls it “horrifying and unacceptable in the city where I want to raise my family.”

In August, similar flyers were handed out by the KKK in Louisiana, and in March in Selma, Alabama.
