Is Your Congressman One Of The 289 Who Just Voted To Stop Syrian Refugees From Coming To America?

Here’s the list of Congressmen who voted to make it nearly impossible for Syrian refugees to come to America.

By a vote of 289-137, the House this afternoon voted to effectively suspend the program that allows Syrian and Iraqi refugees from coming to America. These are people who are fleeing a brutal civil war, and violence from ISIS, desperately need our help, and yet 289 U.S. Congressmen decided to turn their backs on some of the world’s most needy.

In total, 60 million people have been displaced. America was going to take a paltry 10,000. Even France has committed – even after the attacks last week – to taking 30,000.

The bill of course was titled in Washington speak as the American Security Against Foreign Enemies Act of 2015, or the American SAFE Act of 2015.

Shockingly, 47 Democrats were among those who voted for the bill, HR 4038. And even more shockingly, three members of the House LGBT Equality Caucus, Jared Polis (D-CO), Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY), and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) were among those voting in favor of this obscene legislation.

On Twitter, many LGBT activists are furious with the three Equality Caucus members. Author, SIRIUSXM Progress radio host and Huffington Post editor-at-large Michelangelo Signorile rightly offered some strong words:

As did others:

While voting for the bill is indeed reprehensible, the three Equality Caucus members are not alone.
