Twitter Erupts Into Hysterics When Carson Says 9/11 Video He Remembers Was Of ‘Middle East, Not NJ’

Twitter is in hysterics right now after Ben Carson walked back his claim he had seen Muslims in New Jersey celebrating over the downing of the Twin Towers. I “was thinking of the Middle East, not New Jersey,” Carson said.

Ben Carson‘s foreign policy bonafides are almost non-existent, and we know he or his campaign can’t place New England on the map – literally – but now Carson is admitting he mixed up New Jersey and the Middle East?

Earlier today Carson was asked by an ABC News reporter if he, like Donald Trump, remembers seeing Muslims in New Jersey cheering when the World Trade Center fell to the ground.

“I saw the film of it, yeah,” Carson said. And he also confirmed to a reporter the “newsreel,” as he called it, that he saw was of New Jersey.

But as we all know, there are no newsreels of “thousands and thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey – specifically, Jersey City, as Donald Trump insists – because it didn’t happen according to local elected officials, local police, reporters, and pretty much everyone else.

But in what is likely the best decision he’s made in quite some time, Dr. Carson has now walked back his claim, apparently saying he “was thinking of the Middle East, not New Jersey.”

Understandably, that has led Twitter to erupt into hysterics. Take a look:
