Ben Carson Wants Separate Restrooms For Transgender People So Others Aren’t ‘Uncomfortable’ (Video)

Ben Carson says it’s not fair that transgender people make others uncomfortable, so they should get separate restrooms.

“How about we have a transgender bathroom?,” Ben CarsonBen_Carson told Jorge Ramos in an interview today. The 64-year old retired pediatric neurosurgeon was responding to the Fusion anchor’s question, “should transgender men and women use any public bathroom they choose?”

Carson insisted that “it is not fair” for transgender people “to make everybody else uncomfortable.”

“It’s one of the things that I don’t particularly like about” the LGBT movement, Carson continued. “I think everybody has equal rights, but I’m not sure that anybody should have extra rights – extra rights when it comes to redefining everything for everybody else and imposing your view on everybody else, when the way that this country was designed, it was live and let live.”

“Gay people, they can do anything they want,” Carson insisted. “I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, but I don’t care what somebody else believes, they can do whatever they want.”

Carson last week also insisted that just because someone, like himself, is opposed to same-sex marriage, does not mean that they are homophobic.

Yesterday a 1998 video was unearthed revealing Carson saying he believes the Great Pyramids of Egypt were built by the Old Testament’s Joseph, and, contrary to some who think they were created to be tombs for the pharaohs, Carson said he believes they were created to store grain.

On Twitter, many are responding in anger to Carson’s call for what amounts to segregated or “separate but equal” restrooms for transgender people:
