Pres. Barack Obama Joins Facebook, Posts Video Advocating For Climate Change Action

President Barack Obama just joined Facebook – take a look at his new video.

The Leader of the Free World just became the first sitting U.S. President to join over one billion people around the world actively using Facebook every day. President Barack Obama joined about an hour or so ago, and posted a video advocating for action on efforts to combat climate change, asking for support from Americans and people around the world.

We’ve got to preserve this beautiful planet of ours for our kids and grandkids. And that means taking serious steps to address climate change once and for all,” the President wrote.

Facebook remains one of the best ways to reach wide groups of people in the U.S. and worldwide. Nearly three out of every four adults in America have joined.

Watch:

You can “like” President Obama but if you want to “friend” him you’ll have to find an alternate means, although in less than two hours his page received almost 100,000 “likes.”

The Hill notes “The White House has a digital team of about 20 that manage the various social media accounts.” That may account for the dearth of trolling comments. Conversely, when President Obama joined Twitter in May, in minutes dozens of racially charged posts, including ones calling him the “n” word, appeared.
