Anonymous Accuses Four GOP Senators, Five Mayors Of Being Associated With The KKK

As promised, Anonymous has released the first batch of what the hactivist group claims are 1000 elected officials that have ties to the KKK.

As part of what it calls #OpKKK, the Internet “hactivist” group known as Anonymous promised to release a list of 1000 elected officials it believes have ties to the KKK. Today, the group released a list of four Republican U.S. Senators and five mayors it claims are “associated with either kkk or [are] racist related.”

This afternoon #OpKKK has been trending on Twitter.

Anonymous promises to release the full list of 1000 names by November 5, which is both Guy Fawkes Day and the day of Anonymous’ global protest, the Million Mask March.

UPDATE– Anonymous: That List Of Senators And Mayors That Have Ties To The KKK? Fake.

“As detailed in a press release from the group,” USA Today reports, “the event is timed to the first anniversary of the grand jury decision not to prosecute Darren Wilson, the white police officer who shot unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., in August 2014.”

All five mayors have denied the allegations, as have several of the U.S. Senators on the list. Several members of the media have decided to publish the names, but NCRM will not until we can confirm any links or ties to the KKK. One well-known progressive website appeared to have published the list but then deleted the article, although a cached version is still available.

“Anonymous and the KKK have been battling it out in cyberspace for almost a year, ever since the protests in Ferguson when a local chapter of the Klan weighed into the debate by warning that it would use ‘lethal force’ against anyone protesting on the streets of Ferguson,” the International Business Times reports today. “In response, Anonymous took control of the official Twitter account of the KKK chapter and published details of some members’ identities. The group also claimed evidence of a connection between the Ferguson police and the KKK.”
