‘Insult Me To My Face’: Ted Cruz Loses It After Obama Slams His Christians-Only Refugee Policy

Senator Ted Cruz loses his cool yet proudly talks about President Obama’s indirect attack on his Syrian refugees policy.

GOP Senator Ted Cruz believes that America should only accept Christian refugees from Syria, despite the fact that all Syrian refugees are escaping persecution and violence.

President Barack Obama this week has called out Republican governors, congressmen, and presidential candidates, though not by name, for their “unAmerican” comments on Syrian refugees.

“When individuals say that we should have a religious test and that only Christians — proven Christians — should be admitted — that’s offensive and contrary to American values,” Obama said Wednesday, likely referring to both Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz. “I cannot think of a more potent recruitment tool for ISIL than some of the rhetoric that’s been coming out of here during the course of this debate.”

“When I hear political leaders suggesting that there would be a religious test for which a person who is fleeing from a war-torn country is admitted, when some of those folks themselves come from families who benefited from protection when they were fleeing political persecution, that’s shameful, that’s not American,” Pres. Obama said late Monday morning. “That’s not who we are. We don’t have religious tests to our compassion.”

This afternoon, a visibly angered Ted Cruz lashed out at the President, who is currently traveling overseas.

“It is utterly unbefitting of the President to be engaging in those kinds of personal insults and attacks,” Cruz said.

“I would encourage you, Mr. President, if you want to insult me, come back and insult me to my face,” Cruz said to Pres. Obama.

“Let’s have a debate on Syrian refugees right now,” he added. “We can do it anywhere you want. I’d prefer it in the United States and not overseas where you’re making the insults. It’s easy to toss a cheap insult when no one can respond.”

Of course, Cruz used the President’s remarks to appear to his base his importance is greater than it actually is.
