Twitter Fights Back After White Supremacists Call To #BoycottStarWarsVII

A small but effective group of white supremacists are claiming the new Star Wars movie is “anti-white propaganda promoting ,” but the Force is on the side of Twitter users who fought back.

#BoycottStarWarsVII was trending on Twitter and Facebook Monday, as a small group of white supremacists managed to rile up their base claiming the new Star Wars film is “anti-white” because it has people of color in lead roles.

The Tweets are disgusting. So shocking and offensive we won’t post but a handful of the least vile here, like these:

The headlines you may have seen are all misleading:

Racists Urge Boycott of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Over Black Lead, and Most of Them Love Trump

How 2 racist trolls got a ridiculous Star Wars boycott trending on Twitter

Racists are tweeting #BoycottStarWarsVII because a lead actor is black

These aren’t “racists,” these are white supremacists, and there’s a difference. Racists discriminate against and stereotype groups of people. White supremacists are generally organized, and not only believe in the superiority of the European “white race,” they actively work to “preserve” it.

Walk through the Twitter stream of some of those supporting the faux boycott and you’ll see references to publications like VDare, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled a hate group, and a plethora of vile and anti-Semitic tweets.

Fortunately, there’s good news!

Twitter has been fighting back. Here are a few of the tweets by those fighting against the disgusting claim that Star Wars VII is “anti-white.”
