The infamous pastor who thinks he deserves a $65 million private jet tells his supporters Jesus died so they can be financially rich.
Pastor Creflo Dollar recently posted to Twitter and Facebook this statement: “Jesus bled and died for us so that we can lay claim to the promise of financial prosperity. #ProsperityInChrist #WealthyLiving #AbundantLife,” Friendly Atheist, Progressive Secular Humanist, and Christian Today report. After quick criticism, the posts were removed without comment.
Here’s a screenshot of Dollar’s tweet via Progressive Secular Humanist:
But as Warren Throckmorton, notes, the exact sentence exists on Dollar’s website, as part of a study notes section:
“Jesus bled and died for us so that we can lay claim to the promise of financial prosperity.”
Dollar is the founder of World Changers Church International, a non-denominational Christian megachurch. The Georgia-based church is in an $18 million building Dollar says he built without any financing.
In August on his HBO show, John Oliver brilliantly exposed the prosperity gospel and these tax-exempt televangelism frauds.
