Gay Man Kicked Out Of His Church For ‘Embracing The Homosexual Lifestyle’ (Video)

A local Arkansas church has revoked the membership of a young man because he is gay.

20-year old Dylan Settles has a top ten list of things “About Dylan” on his Facebook page. Number one says, “God is my hero.”

Over the weekend, Settles opened a letter from his church, Woods Chapel General Baptist Church in Brookland, Arkansas.

“It has come to the attention, of the Church body, that you have made it known publicly, of your choice, to embrace the homosexual lifestyle,” the first sentence reads. It goes on to state that the church board voted to remove Settles from the church’s membership roles – in other words, kicking him out of the church.

The letter, unsigned, says he can return if he leaves “the sinful lifestyle” he has “chosen,” and “repent.”

“Expressed in the love of Jesus Christ,” it falsely concludes, understanding neither the words of Jesus Christ, nor homosexuality.

Settles told Local Memphis when he opened the letter and started to read it, “I was in awe. I was in so much shock, I couldn’t read the rest of it.”

Now, he says, generously, “I’m a little hurt by it, but I know how they feel.”

He says he will never return to Woods Chapel.

“I don’t feel comfortable sitting at pew or sitting beside my parents when all I’m going to see is people pointing their fingers at me because of the lifestyle I chose.”

Settles posted the letter (above) to Facebook.

Responses have been mixed, with some denouncing the church but many others supporting the church’s decision.
