Ben Carson: Same-Sex Marriage A Slippery Slope To Plural Marriage, Makes The Word Of God ‘Garbage’

Ben Carson says he’s very “tolerant,” and shares his personal beliefs on same-sex marriage.

Dr. Ben Carson says same-sex marriage is a slippery slope opening the way to polygamy and plural marriage, and makes the word of God “garbage.”

Insisting he is “a very reasonable and tolerant person,” who has “nothing against gay people,” Carson on Friday shared his views with right wing Christian radio host Eric Metaxes, explaining how he “resolves” the issue of same-sex marriage, Buzzfeed reports.

“I would like them to answer just one question for me: What position can a person like me take,” Carson posited, “who believes in the traditional, biblical definition of marriage, that is acceptable to them?”

Carson said no one has ever given him a decent response, and then said that gay people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because that would be unfair to people who want to enter into plural marriages.

“The other thing you have to recognize, and this is a very important issue,” said Carson. “If you change the definition of marriage for one group what defense do you have for the next group that comes along and wants it changed? Can you say, ‘No we’re just changing it this one time and it will this way for forever.’ Well, how is that fair? I mean, it doesn’t make any sense.”

Metaxes offered that if same-sex marriage is legal, it becomes very “repressive” to deny other forms of marriage.

“Why two?,” Metaxes asks. “Where do you get the idea that it’s got to be two?”

Carson, who on Sunday said we may be approaching the End of Days, responded, “That’s the natural next question and on it goes from there.”

And then he claimed that same-sex marriage “takes away from the tradition of family that we’ve known for thousands of years but also it negates an important part of the word of God.”

“If you can do that with one part of the word of God you can do with the rest of it too,” Carson claimed. “Toss the whole thing in the garbage.”
