Anti-Gay Republican Resigns After His Sex Tape Is Texted From His Phone

Last time, this anti-gay, “family values” politician was caught texting pictures of himself in various sex acts. This time he was caught starring in his own sex tape.

Karma bit Indiana Republican Rep. Jud McMillin this week. Earlier this year, he helped block a bill that would have criminalized revenge porn in his state. In a bizarre, comedic twist of fate, McMillin just may have become a victim of the act himself.

McMillin resigned from his role as Indiana House Majority Leader on Tuesday, after a sexually explicit video was distributed from his phone. He claims his phone was stolen, and that someone else sent the video from his phone while it was out of his possession.

“My phone was stolen in Canada and out of my control for about 24 hours,” McMillin texted his contacts according to the Daily Beast. “I have just been able to reactivate it under my control. Please disregard any messages you received recently. I am truly sorry for anything offensive you may have received.”

The Indianapolis Business Journal reports that the video definitely shows McMillin involved in “sexual contact,” but the other person in the video was not named.

This is not the first time this Tea Party Republican resigned from a position after explicit images of him were involved. McMillin stepped down from his role as an assistant prosecutor after pursuing a relationship with a domestic violence victim whose boyfriend had he been prosecuting. According to the Bilerico Project, the victim received photos from McMillin, showing him involved in several sexual acts.

Earlier this year, McMillin co-sponsored and helped pass Indiana’s highly-controversial “religious freedom” law allowing businesses to refuse service to gay customers. McMillin also voted to ban same-sex marriage, civil unions, and domestic partner benefits in his state. Also, his 2011 campaign website listed blocking gays and lesbians from getting married as one of his top priorities.

“I will protect the integrity of the institution of marriage. I believe that a marriage is a union of a man and a woman before their peers, government, and most importantly, God. In southeastern Indiana the family has always been the foundation of our strength of community,” he said. “Our relationships with our wives, husbands, parents, children, siblings and other loved ones provides the glue that binds our common purpose. In these times of turmoil the rest of the country could learn something from our example.”

After his sex tape incident, McMillin issued a statement saying “after five years of dedicated service I have decided the time is right for me to pass the torch and spend more time with my family.” Of course he is, because he’s all about “family values.”
